PART 1: Friday Late Afternoon- Late Night
Unwind at the Piedmont Park: Atlanta’s answer to Central Park, Piedmont Park is an ideal first stop for visitors to get acquainted with the city. When first arriving in a new city, I find that I need a place that provides me with the opportunity to both take in my surroundings as well as unwind from the journey in. The luscious green backdrop combined with the numerous open spaces & trails provides the perfect environment for new arrivals to relax a bit while still experiencing an area that captures the spirit of the city
Create your own Journey on the BeltLine : The Belt-Line is a multi-use trail that connects various avenues of the city. Along the journey, travels are offered the opportunity to explore a multitude of shops, galleries, bars, breweries, restaurants, and decide their own journey based on what they are feeling. For those looking to get a bit buzzy, notable hotspots along the trail include New Realm Brewery, Hawkers Asian Street Food, Pour House, & LadyBird.
Feed your Camera, Your Soul, and Your Stomach at Krog Street Market:
It doesn’t have to be anything longer than a 5-minute visit, but a quick google search of Krog Street Tunnel should be enough to encourage everyone to visit the noted Atlanta staple. Located both in the tunnel & on the surrounding streets, the art not only helps to brighten up the neighborhood & but also creates a fun loose vibe that you will be sure to carry with you to dinner.
Speaking of Dinner, Krog Street Market has many options, none of which you can go wrong with, and all at fairly affordable prices & reasonable quantities. From my experience, Superica(Latin), and Fred’s Meats(BBQ) appear to be the most popular, but Indian, Peruvian, Vietnamese, and more also are available for those whose palettes are feeling adventurous that day.
Embrace Music, Merry, and Cheer the Atlanta way: The night is young and so are you, so take advantage of the multiple options available as part of the Atlanta NightLife.
For those who enjoy catching a good show, the Skull Lounge, Fox Theatre, and Atlanta Magic Theater are perfect venues for the latest & greatest in comedy, magic, drama, musicals etc with a robust showcase of acts local & from afar.
Whether you are looking to catch local artists or national headliners, there are numerous venues for those looking to add a little rhythm to their step. Venues such as Masquerade, Terminal West, The Eastern, The Earl, Tabernacle, Believe Music Hall, the Loft, North Tavern, and Blind Willies Blues Bar play home to the best acts in town during the weekends.
For standard bar hopping, Virginia Highlands & Edgewood areas offer a great bang for your buck, especially for those looking to hop around & sample some great drinks.
For those who like to add on some activity to their drinking, Painted Duck in West Midtown offers a variety of activities to pair along with drinks including duck bowling, soccer billiards, extreme bachee ball, horseshoe throwing, air hockey, etc. Post that, you can take a 5 minute walk to Little Trouble & JCT Kitchen for some nice cocktails to cap off the night.
